Our Sincere Sympathy to the Family of Ronald Vitek

Ronald G. "Ron" Vitek, age 83 of Welch, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday morning, February 25, 2022.

Ronald G. Sr., the son of Frank and Loretta (Parnell) Vitek, was born on April 24, 1938, in St. Paul. After moving to Newport, Ron attended St. Paul Park High School prior to serving his country in the United States Air Force. Following his Honorable Discharge, Ron was united in marriage to Marlene Heschke on July 11, 1959, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. Over the years, Ron worked at Armour & Co. for twenty-five years prior to owning The Country Pump with Marlene for fifteen years. After retiring, Ron enjoyed working at Gopher Hills Golf Course for the last ten years. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling and much against his own words, Ron later found a love of golfing with his friends and family. He enjoyed deer hunting and traveling over the last twenty years, especially to Cozumel, Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Lawrence on February 9, 2021.

Ron is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Deborah (Al) Hensley, Ronald G. Vitek Jr., and Lori (Mike) Erickson; grandchildren, Michael Erickson, Andrew Erickson, Matthew Vitek, and Mitchell (Nicole) Vitek; five great granddaughters and one great grandson on the way; sister-in-law, Joyce Vitek; and by many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Church of St. Joseph in Miesville, with Father Terry Beeson officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and for one hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday morning.
