Altar Servers

The Altar Server is a male or female member of the assembly who assists the priest and deacon during the Eucharist and other liturgical ceremonies so the liturgy can be conducted with grace and reverence. Altar Servers should be active and full participants in the celebration with the understanding that they are leaders of the assembly. The altar server models the activity of the assembly and by singing, praying and keeping silence can enhance the worship of the assembly.  To serve at St. Joseph you must be at least entering into the 4th grade and complete formal training.

Please be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass. You are to wear a shirt with a collar, dress or school shoes, and pants. Shorts are permitted during the summer if they are dress/casual. NO FLIP FLOPS please.

Training is available and refresher courses each year. Contact Brian Molitor or the parish office if you are interested in becoming an Altar Server.

Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Ministers of Communion are those parishioners who answered the call to serve by distributing communion, either at Masses, Funerals, or Weddings, as well as those who take communion to the sick and Homebound. This is a very fulfilling ministry; you are bringing Christ to your fellow parishioners. If you wish to become a Eucharistic Minister, please contact Sharon Illa (Eucharistic Minister Coordinator).

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the readings during the Liturgy of the Word. They are parishioners who answered the call to help proclaim the Word of God in a reverent, prayerful manner. Lectors should be comfortable in front of a group of people, speak slowly, and speak confidently. If you wish to become a Lector, please contact Rebecca Susag (Lector Coordinator) or the Parish Office.

Ushers/Greeters

Ushers and Greeters play an important role in engaging parishioners and guests that attend Mass here at St. Joseph Parish. Ushers and Greeters should be friendly and warm, and inviting all who enter the doors of the Church. They should be willing to assist the handicap, or give directions to those who need assistance finding restrooms, a seat at Mass, hearing assists, or what ever the need may be. If you feel the call to be an inviting presence of Christ to your fellow parishioners and guests, please contact Dan and Mary Benson (Usher/Greeter Coordinator) or the Parish Office.
